New York Loft Hostel / Brand Identity, Signage and Environmental Graphics
A 1913 building was fully restored to become the New York Loft Hostel. It played an important role in the development of the Bushwick area.
Respecting the building and reaching the guests with more than a mere graphic decoration was my goal.
In a tribute to New York City we printed each of the 69 doors with a different local character or subject.
There is a specific relation between the arrows and
the doors.
The building currently operates as a shelter for the homeless and the signage remains in use.

I enjoyed paying tribute to Lou Reed, among others. I remeber looking for a job at CBGB's in my early 20's, and some guy at the reception said NO to me without even taking his eyes off of the magazine he was reading. I loved it!
Collaboration with Gio Casabona
There is a basic geometric structure that grows and plays around in the given space.
Each door communicates a - hopefully - inspirational phrase from its respective character, and historic information about New York City.

Amongst other publications, the project was featured on the Graphic Space II book by Hong Kong Publisher Art Power. I was also proudly invited to write the book’s preface.
